At the media conference on 15 July, the Premier announced that, with effect from 6 am on 16 July:

• the current restrictions for South East Queensland will continue for a further seven days, from 6 am on 16 July; and
• restrictions will ease for Townsville, Magnetic Island and Palm Island, with those areas returning to the same restrictions as the rest of Queensland.

Residents of the impacted area (South East Queensland) are required to carry a mask and wear it whenever outside the house unless an exclusion applies. Restrictions continue to apply to private gatherings, and some additional restrictions apply to restricted businesses, activities and undertakings.
