This Advice has been updated to reflect minor changes to the Public Health Orders issued on 18 July 2021 and to provide clarification about operation of the authorised workers list that relates to restrictions on movement from the 3 specified local government areas (LGAs). The Advice has also been amended to highlight the obligation for a business to require a person to work from home, unless it is not reasonably practicable to do so, applies to all of New South Wales, not just Greater Sydney. A summary of this information is provided in the Introduction below.
The most significant direct impact on business is created by the restriction of the operation of some retail premises and the pausing of construction work, including non-urgent maintenance in residential premises.
There have not been any direct restrictions placed on other workplaces, such as manufacturing and logistics. However, these workplaces may be impacted by the restrictions on carpooling (across the whole of Greater Sydney) and/or the restrictions placed on people living in the three LGAs of Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown and Liverpool.
